Kid’s Cottage Daycare
Hi, my name is Deborah. I run a licensed daycare in a new family neighbourhood in central Sooke. I began working in this field when I started my own family in 1999. Though my own children are no longer in need of care, I have continued along this path as I love what I do. We are a very active daycare and involved in many activities. Our mornings most always include an outing. We attend various playgroups and programs such as CASA drop-in, Strong Start, Kindergym, Books For Breakfast, and music programs. On other mornings you’ll find us out and about, at local parks, playgrounds, ball fields, beaches, gardens, walking, and more. We go everywhere and experience a variety of fun and adventure. Through our play we nurture our creative and imaginative selves. At home the children participate in numerous activities which support their learning and developmental growth. And yes, we do have down time too.
Many children will attend full-time daycare between the ages of 1 and 4.5 years. My aim is to develop a partnership of caring focused on your child. I believe you cannot underestimate the value of a family environment where the care provider remains the same. This type of care allows for strong bonds to be formed. In addition to this, there are often close friendships formed between the young peers, siblings, and families. A child will feel truly secure in this type of care, allowing them to focus their energy on the business of growing up well, and having some fun on the way.
I currently have two children starting kindergarten in September, and therefore, have two spaces available. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact me at 250-920-9334.

Rise Up Singing Childcare
Tara’s Daycare is located in the Sunriver neighbourhood of Sooke. We are geared toward babies and toddlers, but accept all ages of children.
Our focus is on a fun and gentle routine with plenty of outside time, books, games, building, and crafts (our crafts mostly consist of drawing and making/sculpting homemade playdough, but sometimes there is something fun to bring home to the family!) Meals and snacks are included for your convenience.
Our family currently has two school-aged children, a toddler, and a small feisty poodle-terrier who is our very special and kid-friendly ‘grown-up alarm’.
I have operated a family daycare out of my home near Vancouver for the last five years, have current childcare first-aid certification, the Good Beginnings family daycare course, and am pursuing registration as a Registered License-Not-Required Family Daycare in Sooke.
Please feel free to contact me for a visit, and see if our daycare is right for your family!
Please note: For teachers and other school-year employees, I am able to offer daycare annually for the school year, with no summer holding fee.
The Tadpole Academy is a licensed family daycare steps from Whiffen Spit.
The Farm Playschool
We are a licensed playschool in the Sooke Village Core, near Ed MacGregor Park. Our program is Waldorf-inspired, garden-based, and mostly outdoors. We have spaces for 2.5- to 6-year-olds. Our program is focused on building connections and gentle parenting. We provide healthy snacks and lunch. We have years of experience and a passion for working with children and families.
Loving, family-oriented homebased day care in Sooke core. We are a stable, dependable home with very grounded values.
Crafts, games, books, baking, free-play and reading top our list of to-do’s. We are a smoke-free and video game-free home.
I feel it is important for the kids to feel like they are a part of the family; and they receive the true amount of active-attention they need to grow and thrive.
Here is how we roll: We play in the rain, we jump in puddles, we climb trees, we play in the dirt, we blow bubbles, play with chalk, we run through sprinklers, we chill at the library, we hit the beach, we hit the museum, we hit the grocery store when we decide we need cupcakes, we attend events at local schools, we go to local literacy programs, we hang at a local playgroup, and we mingle with other daycares.
We learn respectful play, general life skills – clean up after eating, care for and cleaning up toys and books, and that mistakes do happen and can often be fixed, without hurting a child’s spirit.
Here’s what we don’t do: depend on screens for entertainment.
My hours are very flexible and can be adjusted to suit your schedule. Meals and nutritious snacks are happily provided unless your child has food sensitivities.
We will take subsidy.
