Come and enjoy rhymes, songs, fingerplays and stories with your baby. Meet other parents and caregivers and share your experiences. For babies aged 0 to 18 months; registration required.
- Celebrate Family Literacy: A Drop-In Storytime: Friday, January 25

Family Literacy Day takes place across Canada annually on January 27 to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together. Visit the library for a special family storytime featuring fun, hands-on literacy activities, stories, a craft and more! You’ll also discover lots of great ideas on how to make literacy an enjoyable and worthwhile part of your daily lives. For children and their families; no registration required.

Starting Monday, February 25, drop by the Sooke Library Branch to learn more about Freedom to Read week, including books that have been challenged in Canada or controversial throughout history. Find out how you can get involved in protecting intellectual freedom and your right to read!

- Can You Imagine? Fractured Fairy Tales: Tuesday, March 19

What if Cinderella decided to start her own cleaning business? Or Snow White didn’t like apples? Join us as we explore some fairly twisted tales and other stories where familiar fairytale characters show up in unusual ways. You’ll also have fun playing fairytale-themed games and activities! For ages 6-12; registration required.
- By Royal Invitation: A Dress-Up Storytime: Thursday, March 21

Calling all princesses and princes! Come in costume and join us for a special storytime and craft. You’ll have a “ball” listening to new tales and learning how to behave like a real royal! For ages 3-5; registration required.
- Write Your Own Fractured Fairytale Prize Draw: March 18-22
We invite you to turn a familiar fairy tales upside down and inside out—and to have fun! Write your own fractured fairy tale (two pages maximum) and we’ll post it in the library. You might even win a prize! Submissions accepted from March 18-22 in print or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. For ages 6-12.
